Church Services
One of the joys of belonging to St Stephen's is its multi-generational nature. We are blessed with a community - ranging from 1 month to 95 years - building itself up in love as each part does its work (Eph 4:14-16). This is true of our Sunday gatherings, which cater for members of all ages and life stages.
Here is a snapshot of our different Sunday meetings.
Our Sunday 8am service is a traditional Anglican worship service, and incorporates the Lord’s Supper (Communion) and morning prayer services from various Anglican liturgies. Each week we hear the Bible read and God’s word explained, we pray for the world, the needs of our country, our neighbours and ourselves. We also enjoy singing hymns accompanied by our pipe organ.
Fellowship continues after the service over morning tea, and through the week in growth groups. Members socialise together and care for each other’s needs in sickness and in other life challenges.
We invite you to join us and look forward to welcoming you soon.
Our Sunday 10am service is a family-friendly contemporary service with a vibrant weekly children’s program. We sing, pray to God, hear His Word read and taught, hear and get involved with Christian ministry and mission activities locally and globally, and encourage one another before and after the meeting. You will find elements of the Anglican tradition woven into the service, together with contemporary expression (the Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of the month).
As well as meeting together on Sundays many in our congregation meet again during the week in growth groups, through social events and other special events.
For Your Kids
A creche is available for children under 3 years. Our Preschool to Primary age children enjoy an age specific program that includes interaction with the Bible, singing and games. We also run a youth program for students in years 7–8 at high school which takes place at the same time as the service.
We warmly welcome you to join us and look forward to meeting you soon.
Our Sunday 5pm service welcomes adults, youth and children in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where they can be taught from God’s word in the company of others. The service is led by different members of the church and includes prayer, singing, Bible reading and a sermon. At various points people are invited to participate, and you are welcome to join in as you feel comfortable.
Members of the 5pm service also meet in smaller growth groups during the week and regularly engage in social activities together outside of our Sunday service.
For Your Kids
A creche runs during this time for 0–3-year-olds. For older children there are programs tailored to their stage of learning. If you live in the local area your children are bound to recognise others who come along. A youth group is also run for students in years 7-8.
We would love you to join us and we hope to see you soon.
Our Sunday 7pm evening service is a vibrant modern service with a focus on teenagers, young adults and older families. Members enjoy the opportunity to hear from the Bible as it is read and explained, sing a range of contemporary songs led by our singers and musicians, and love to pray weekly for the world around us – our friends, our neighbours and ourselves.
During the week many of our members join together at youth group or in smaller growth groups and regularly catch up for social and special events.
Come and join us one Sunday night. We would love to meet you!
